SKRIPSI USING NOTE-TAKING STRATEGY WITH FOLKLORE AUDIOVISUAL TO ENHANCE LISTENING SKILL FOR THE ELEVENTH GRADERS OF SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 1 KOTA MAGELANG
Listening is one of the four basic English language skills and an important part of effective communication. Listening means understanding meaning, capturing information, and remembering what is heard. However, many students struggle with listening skills due to monotonous learning strategies. Therefore, the writer provides a note-taking strategy using audiovisual folklore to enhance listening skills, especially for eleventh-grade students, as a solution to problems experienced in class. The objectives of this study are (1) To find out how can note-taking strategies with folklore audiovisual be applied appropriately to class 11 of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Magelang. (2) To find out how are the results of students' opinions about the process of recording strategies with folklore audiovisual implemented in the eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Magelang. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. The study was conducted in three stages: Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The subjects were 25 students from the eleventh grade of Social Studies-2 at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Magelang. Data were collected using a listening test and non-test data in observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. This study's results indicate an enhancement in the listening skills of eleventh-grade students when using a note-taking strategy with folklore audiovisual. The average score in the Pre-cycle was 59.2 (poor category), Cycle I was 70,4 (good category), and Cycle II was 81.2 (good category). In addition, there was also an enhancement in student experience during the learning process, as recorded in the observation sheet. The average student observation results in the Pre-cycle were 52,91% (poor category), Cycle I was 66,33% (fair category), and Cycle II was 77,66% (good). In conclusion, based on the data above, it can be concluded that the implementation of the note-taking strategy using folklore audiovisual has enhanced. Furthermore, the writer recommends that teachers use more varied learning strategies, one of which is note-taking strategy using folklore audiovisual. The writer also advises students to be more active and confident during the learning process
