The second one is to describe how the teacher realizes her positive politeness strategy in motivating her students. To present and analyze the data findings, this research used descriptive qualitative research. The techniques used in collecting the data were observation and document recording. The result shows that there were 96 sentences which contained positive politeness strategy. The writer also found that the teacher realized the positive politeness strategy in giving motivation through directive utterances such as, question, command/request, suggestion, invitation and declaration. The pedagogical implication of this research is that positive politeness strategy can help the teacher to maintain or even improve students’ motivation by reducing the use of expressions implying students’ low position (orders), replacing expressions of ordering or commanding with inviting, maximizing the use of polite expressions, and using friendly addresses.
