SKRIPSI STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARDS ENGLISH E-LEARNING IMPLEMENTATION DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC (A CASE STUDY AT THE NINTH-GRADERS AT SMP MUHAMMADIYAH PLUS GUNUNGPRING IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021)

The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the Indonesian government through its Ministry of Education and Culture to implement policies moving conventional learning to E-learning. Although the implementation of E-Learning can limit physical meetings, it can give positive and negative perception among the students. There were two main objectives of this research. The first is to know students` perception toward English e-learning implementation during the Covid- 19 pandemic at ninth-graders of SMP Muhammadiyah Plus Gunungpring in the School Year 2020/2021. The second is to know the factors that influence the students` perception toward English e-learning implementation during Covid-19 at ninth-graders of SMP Muhammadiyah Plus Gunungpring in the School Year 2020/2021. The study was qualitative research with a case study approach. The technique of collecting data was using questionnaires and interviews. There are three steps in analyzing the data. The steps are data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. As the result, the writer found that Students' perception towards English Elearning implementation during the Covid-19 pandemic at the ninth graders at SMP Muhammadiyah plus Gunungpring in the academic year 2020/2021 is “good” with the consideration of total score mean (M) 3,77. The result of the “good” perception of students towards English E-learning implementation was influenced by some factors. First, students perceived that E-learning provides flexibility in time and place of their learning, second is the ease of use of the platforms enhance their learning, but the instability of the internet connection makes them hard to follow the learning. Therefore, the use of platforms that provide more video and audio quality in delivering the material is needed.
