The English language has been commonly accepted as an active international language. In Indonesia, English is a foreign language. English is the most important foreign language studied in Indonesia. The term foreign language in the field of language teaching is different from that of a second language. Foreign languages are usually taught as a subject in schools with the aim of basic communication and mastering four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) in that language to some extent. In the learning system in Indonesia. The existence of face-to- face-learning that is still needed to control students. The covid- 19 pandemic has led to changes in the learning activity used in Indonesia. WHOs’ recommendation to maintain distance made Indonesia use e-learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The changing of the system could interfere with the school's goal of teaching English. Because the e-learning method requires certain requirements in its implementation. There are two objectives of this research; the first is to investigate the problems in the implementation of the E-learning English teaching at the ninth grade of SMP N 1 Ngadirejo. The second is to investigate the causes of the problems in the implementation of E-learning English teaching at the ninth grade of SMP N 1 Ngadirejo. The writer conducted descriptive qualitative research. To collect the data, the writer used the questionnaire and interview. The analysis data used qualitative data analysis. The writer took the IXC class of SMP Negeri 1 Ngadirejo as the subject. There were 32 students. Based on the writer's questionnaire and interview, it is understood that many causes influence student-learning difficulties in the online classroom. These reasons are the Internet network that is not equally spread, the absence of teachers as facilitators and sources of solutions to the problems encountered by students in learning the material, and teachers who have limitations in tracking each student that the medium used by the teacher does not support live streaming video. Based on the description above, many restrictions and influences students' comprehension of the subject. Existing internet network variables, the use of learning media platforms, and a teacher as a key element to solve the problems that students face during the learning process, and the teacher loses control of the classroom that is usually done in face-to-face meetings.
