SKRIPSI HIGH SCHOOL EFL TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS TOWARD THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN CONDUCTING STUDY FROM HOME ACTIVITY DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN MAGELANG REGENCY

The integration of technology especially ICT in EFL teaching-learning activity has been discussed by many reseachers around the world for the last decades. Technology develops very rapidly and influences education massively. Moreover, the use of technology gives a bigger impact to teaching-learning activity since the implementation of study from home policy due to COVID-19 pandemic. This policy does not allow the teachers to hold a learning process directly. Teachers and students are not allowed to attend the school and all of the schools’ activities are conducted by online. The use of technology provides benefits as well as challenges for teachers and students in learning activities. The writer is interested to conduct a research to analyze the effectiveness of the integration of technology in learning activities during study from home in Magelang Regency. There are two main objectives in this research. The first is to analyze how do high schools EFL teachers in Magelang Regency perceive abou the implementation of study from home policy and how do they perceive about the use of technology to conduct learning activities during study from home. This research applies descriptive qualitative method and the writer analyzed the data from the questionnaire. This research uses two kind of questionnaire; close-ended and open-ended questionnaire. There are 30 respondents from 12 state and private high schools in Magelang Regency. The data are analyzed by classifying and identifying based on the theory of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by Fred Davis. The result of this research shows that 83,4% of the respondents have a positive perceptions toward their understanding about the governments’ study from home regulation and they are enthusiastic in conducting learning activities during study from home. However, 50% of the respondents state several statements or reasons that show a negative opinion about the implementation of study from home. The dominant statement is about the ineffective implementation of study from home. Meanwhile, 80% of the participants agree with the statement that technology helps them a lot in conducting the learning process during the implementation of study from home. They also use various kinds of applications to support their teaching activities. However, the respondents claim that they experience a lot of problems or barrierss in using teachnology during study from home.
