Writing is more compact than the other skills because it is generally following the standardization of grammar, vocabulary, and structure. Therefore, it is difficult to start writing because usually the writer tends to have a mental block and to be confused in elaborating the idea. Based on the writer’s observation of written works in analytical exposition text done by the fourth-semester students of English Department at Tidar University, the students have difficulties to elaborate the main topic in constructing the text. This research aims to describe and know the effectiveness trustworthy of the material developed for writing analytical exposition text based on the Opinion Forum of The Jakarta Post Website. This research is categorized as Research and Development (R&D) study. The writer used 4-D model based on Thiagarajan’s (1974) theory. The writer only used three of them because the disseminate steps means the distribution material widely, because it is still pandemic that make us not to meet a lot of people so the writer did not conduct it. The subjects of this research were the fourth semester students of English Education Study Program at Tidar University. The research instruments were test, documentation, the learner analysis questionnaire and expert judgement questionnaire. The result of this development is the learning materials of writing analytical exposition text based on the opinion forum of The Jakarta Post website in the form of e-book. Based on the experts’ judgments, the result of evaluation related to the learning materials of writing analytical exposition text based on the opinion forum of The Jakarta Post website reached the score 4 and was categorized as “very good” in the objective aspect. For the material aspect, it got score 3.37 and was categorized as “very good”. The instruction aspect got score 3.5 and was categorized as “very good”. In the graphic aspect, it got score 3.25 and was categorized as “very good”. For the design aspect, it got score 3.73 and was categorized as “very good”. The final mean score of all aspects was 3.57, which was categorized as “very good” that was in the range of 3.25 ≤ x ≤4. The results of this research are expected to help the teacher in the teaching and learning process to use it as an alternative source. For the students, they are expected being able to enhance their writing skill through this developed learning material.
