Keywords: COVID-19 Pandemic, Online Class, Teachers Problems. Nowadays, Indonesia and all of the world have been infected by a pandemic.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), when new viruses spread beyond the limit across the world, a pandemic is announced. A pandemic that happens right now is called Covid-19. In this study, the writer investigated the problems in online teaching and learning activities of English speaking skill in the Tenth Graders of SMAN 1 Bandongan Magelang during Covid-19 pandemic. The writer chooses this topic because the writer has ever taught the Tenth Graders of SMAN 1 Bandongan Magelang in the Covid-19 era and he found there was a lot of problems in the speaking class. This research focused in the implementation, problems, and the strategies which are used by the Teachers to overcome the problems. The writer had a purpose to analyzed the problems, implementation, and the strategies used in the English speaking class of the Tenth Graders of SMAN 1 Bandongan Magelang during Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore the method of the research which is used in this research was Qualitative case study. The cases that were studied in this research were the problems, implementation, and strategies used of English online teaching and learning activity in the speaking skill of the Tenth Graders of SMAN 1 Bandongan Magelang during Covid-19 pandemic. In the conclusion, the writer conclude that here are a variety of problems that students encounter in speaking and the results also show that there have been a variety of factors affecting student performance. In the suggestion, the writer suggest to the Students to improve more their speaking skill, they should speak up.Furthermore, they can also watch English-speaking videos, or watch an English- speaking seminar, and then try to broadcast it.
