SKRIPSI USING SCRAMBLED PICTURE STORIES TEACHING MEDIA TO IMPROVE NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL OF TENTH GRADERS OF SMA N 1 SALAMAN IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020/2021

From the four basic skills in English one of them is writing. However, in fact the tenth graders still find difficulties in learning writing especially in narrative text. The result of the writing test is under the standard minimum of mastery learning grade that is 75. From several factors influencing that condition the biggest problem is to generate the ideas. To overcome that problem the writer, conducts a research by applying Scrambled Picture Stories as Teaching Media.
There are two main objectives in this research, the first is to know whether the use of Scrambled Picture Stories Teaching Media can increase learning motivation of writing narrative text. The second is to know the great improvement of student’s narrative text writing skill who are taught by using Scrambled Picture Stories Teaching Media.
The subject of this research are the tenth graders of SMAN 1 Salaman in the school year 2020/2021 class X MIPA 1 that consists of 36 students. The writer conducted a classroom action research. It is divided into Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II. To collect the data , the researcher used test and non-test such as observation, questionnaire, and documentation.
Based on the result of data analysis, there is a good improvement of students’ motivation in class. The students show a good improvement in participation in the learning process. They were more active, more interested and almost all of the students involved during learning process when the teacher used Scrambled Picture Stories as Teaching Media. There is also improvement of students’ narrative text writing skill. In pre-cycle, the average score of students’ narrative text writing skill is.63.97 After they were being taught using Scrambled Picture Stories Teaching Media the average score in cycle I is 70.02. In cycle II the average score is 80.25 and it fulfills the minimum standard. The writer suggests English teacher to use Scrambled Picture Stories as Teaching Media in teaching writing in Senior High School.
