SKRIPSI USING QUIZIZZ MEDIA TO IMPROVE THE NARRATIVE TEXT READING SKILL OF THE TENTH GRADERS OF SMAN 1 SALAMAN IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020/2021

Reading is one of the English language skills that should be developed by the students. In observation at SMAN 1 Salaman, students of the tenth graders still have some problems in reading because their score in reading narrative text is under the Minimum Mastery Criterion score. There were two main objectives of this research. The first was to know whether the use of Quizizz Media can improve the narrative text reading skill of the tenth graders at SMAN 1 Salaman. The second was to know how great the improvement of the narrative text reading skill of the tenth graders of SMAN 1 Salaman in the school year 2020/2021 who are taught by using Quizizz media is. The subject of this research was students of X MIPA 4 of SMAN 1 Salaman which consisted of 36 students. The type of the research was Classroom Action Research. The writer conducted this research through Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The observation, questionnaire, and documentation were used to collect qualitative data. While, the tests were used to collect quantitative data. In Pre-Cycle, the writer evaluated the data from the observation sheet, questionnaire sheet, and test. In Cycle I and Cycle II, the writer collected the data from the questionnaire sheet and tests in each cycle after the writer applied “Quizizz” media in teaching reading narrative text via WhatsApp Group. The results of qualitative data can be seen through the improvement of the students’ score. It can be seen from the data that most students who like and think English is important, they start to like reading narrative text, and they can understand the explanation text well. While, the result of the quantitative data of this research can be seen from the average score in each cycle. The average score in the Pre-Cycle test is 69.02. Then, the average score in Cycle I is 73.1. The last, the average score in Cycle II that is 77.9. Therefore, there is good improvement from the result test of Pre-cycle to Cycle II, that is 8.9. More than 75% of the students got 75. As a result, the writer concluded that there was great improvement of students’ narrative text reading skill after been taught by using Quizizz media.
