SKRIPSI INTEGRATING VALUE CLARIFICATION TECHNIQUE (VCT) WITH MIND MAP TO IMPROVE THE NARRATIVE TEXT WRITING SKILL: A RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

This study was classified as Research and Development (R&D). The research aims were to exist teacher technique for teaching English narrative skill, to develop the teacher guide book used for the teaching-learning process, and to know the effectiveness of VCTMM teacher guide book. There were five steps in this research (i) need analysis, (ii) planning, (iii) designing the material, (iv) material evaluation, and (v) revising. The subjects of the research were 35 ten grade MIPA 1 students of SMAN 5 Magelang. The data of this research were in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were obtained from interviews and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires using Google form and Whatsapp personal chat and were analyzed using Likert-Scale. The questionnaires were distributed to students and English teachers. The research product was a VCTMM teacher guide book for teaching English writing Narrative skills to the ten grade students in senior high school. The result in scoring percentage of VCTMM teacher guide book shown by the expert validator was 84,8%. Meanwhile, the teacher gave 90% as the final score. It can be inferred that the VCTMM teacher guide book were very feasible to be used for X MIPA 1in teaching English narrative writing skills Thus, it was concuded that the VCTMM teacher guide book can be used for teaching-learning English narrative writing skills. The teacher can be more creative to solve the student problems in writing skills. The writer expected the English teacher could help the students to develop the student’s skill, can motivating them to learn English more, especially in writing skills.
