This study was conducted to share swearing utterances of Pulp Fiction movie. The writer analysed types and functions of swearing utterances on Pulp Fiction movie. The objectives of this study were to describe swearing utterances types and functions and to find out the dominant type and function of swearing utterances on Pulp Fiction movie script in investigating sociolinguistics studies of English Foreign Language learners. This study was descriptive qualitative research. This study used theories of (Andersson and Trudgill, 2008: 4) and (Karjalainen Andersson, 2002: 24) about the types and functions of swearing utterances. The procedure of data analysis were identified swearing utterances which include types and functions of swearing utterances, classified swearing utterances, coding based on swearing utterances and put the data on the table based on the types and functions, and transcribe the data that focusing on types and functions of swearing utterances. The data displayed in a table, in order to help the readers read easily. And the last step, the writer drew the conclusion based on the data about types and functions of swearing utterances and also the dominant types and functions of swearing utterances on Pulp Fiction movie. There were two results on this study. First, there were 4 types of swearing utterances based on (Andersson and Trudgill, 2008: 4) which appeared on Pulp Fiction movie. They are expletive, abusive, humorous, and auxiliary swearing. The dominant type of swearing utterances is abusive swearing, the percentage is 30%. Second, there were 3 functions of swearing utterances based on (Karjalainen Andersson, 2002: 24) that appeared on Pulp Fiction movie. They are psychological motives, social motives, and linguistic motives. The dominant function of swearing utterances is social motives, the percentage is 40%. According to the results above, the writer expected that EFL learners who are studying sociolinguistics about swearing utterances can understand in detail the types of swearing utterances and functions of swearing utterances. The teacher can use example of swearing utterances in learning process because it can helped the learners how to pronounce of the swearing utterances. The EFL learners can use the types and functions swearing utterances in a certain environment to improve their speaking skills and enrich their vocabulary of target language.
