SKRIPSI ENHANCING STUDENTS WRITING SKILL THROUGH TWITTER THREAD: REFLECTIVE PRACTICES OF DIGITAL MEDIA IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING CLASSROOM

Writing as one of the competencies was taught in genres of study. Students in senior high school should be able to write some text. It was an activity of making a text into a word, a sentence and a paragraph. It can be spoken or written. The test result on tenth graders of SMA N 1 Candimulyo Magelang was under the standard minimum of mastery learning grade 75. It can be influenced by internal and external factors that have an impact to their score. Therefore, the writer conducted this research to overcome the problem through Twitter Thread Digital Media. The first goal was to know through Twitter Thread Digital Media can enhance students‟ learning motivation of the recount text writing skill and the second was to know how great the enhancement of the students‟ recount text writing skill of the tenth graders in SMA N 1 Candimulyo Magelang. The writer conducted classroom action research, which was divided into Pre-Cycle, Cycle-I and Cycle-II. The writer chose the tenth graders of IPA 2 class in SMA N 1 Candimulyo Magelang as the subject of this research. There were 36 students in Pre-Cycle, Cycle-I, and Cycle-II. The writer used qualitative and quantitative data as a technique for analyzing data. The result showed that Twitter Thread can enhance the students “learning motivation. The result of the observation and questionnaire showed that students‟ learning motivation enhance after being taught by Twitter Thread. The average score of observation from Pre-Cycle to Cycle-II was 43%, 63%, 84%. The enhancement in the recount text-writing test was 69.00, 77.02 and 80.94 from Pre-Cycle to Cycle-II. The writer concludes that Twitter Thread Digital Media can enhance the students‟ learning motivation of the recount text writing skill of the tenth graders. There was also a great enhancement of the recount text writing skill of the tenth graders in SMA N 1 Candimulyo Magelang.
