SKRIPSI AN ANALYSIS OF WRITING TASK IN ENGLISH TEXTBOOK FOR THE TENTH GRADERS’ STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND THE RELEVANCE TO THE 2013 CURRICULUM

Writing is one of the four abilities that students have to be mastered in the 2013 curriculum because it is considered an essential ability for learning English. However, it is often found the difficulties faced by the Tenth graders' senior high school students in learning writing. In order to overcome their difficulties and improve their writing abilities, they have to do several writing tasks in the English textbook. Therefore, it is essential to select the writing tasks in the textbook that are appropriate to the students' needs and students' ability standards. This research aims to find out the types of writing tasks in the English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris” for the Tenth graders' students of senior high school relevant to the 2013 curriculum and the most dominant type of writing task the English textbook. In Conducting this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative research. In addition, the writer used content analysis as the research design. The object of this research was the writing tasks in the English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris” for the Tenth graders' students of senior high school by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the year 2017. This research showed 27 writing tasks in the English textbook relevant to the types of writing tasks demanded by the 2013 curriculum and categorised into four types of writing tasks demanded by the 2013 curriculum. One task categorised into the type of completing text or sentences with the percentage of 3,7%, twenty-two tasks categorised into the type of writing sentences dealing with grammar with the percentage of 81,4 %, three tasks categorised into the type of writing short functional text with the percentage of 11,1 %, and one task categorised into the type of developing vocabulary into sentences with the percentage of 3,7%. The most dominant type of writing task in the English textbook is writing sentences dealing with grammar with a percentage of 81,4%. On the other hand, the percentage of writing tasks found in the textbook relevant to the 2013 curriculum is 80%.
