Technology has become increasingly useful to assist humans in completing their job as the digital era develops. The implementation of technology also has benefits that can change the way students and teachers teach and learn. Duolingo is a language learning application used at SMK Negeri Tembarak. It is used to assist teachers and students in the learning process. This study aims to know how the Duolingo application has been implemented in learning English writing skills at SMK Negeri Tembarak, as well as to know to what extent the Duolingo application has improved the teaching and learning process at SMK Negeri Tembarak. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri Tembarak, with students in class XI RPL C as subjects. The descriptive qualitative method was applied to describe the data by employing observation, questionnaire, and interview as the data collection techniques. The results showed that Duolingo's online assignments are effective in improving the learning process, increasing student's motivation to complete online assignments. They are also more effective than traditional assignments because they are paperless. However, Duolingo is still ineffective at both reducing exam stress and reducing the risk of cheating. Furthermore, the data reveals that there are still some problems with Duolingo's online assignments that need to be addressed to improve the server and regulatory side of things. Based on the findings of this study, it could be concluded that Duolingo has both positive and negative effects on teaching, Duolingo application can improve students' writing skills. However, some improvements are still needed to make the application more efficient and effective. The writer gives suggestions to the students to improve their ability to use technology for the learning process. In addition, the teacher needs to be up to date on the use of technology-based learning media.
