Reading is one of the learning skills that students must have because it is an important activity to get various information and see the world through written information. In higher education, critical reading is a high-level cognitive skill that must be mastered by the students, which helps them to be more selective in reading material. In reading subjects, students need reading habits to understand the material easily. However, in reality, the reading habit among students is still inadequate. It can hinder students' understanding of the learning material, especially for students who take the Critical Reading class of the English Department at Universitas Tidar. They are required to understand the literal and implied meanings of a text. Therefore, the researcher needs to investigate this course to determine the correlation between students' reading habits and critical reading skill. In this study, the researcher used a correlation design with quantitative research. The researcher used two instruments: the Reading Habit Questionnaire and the Critical Reading Comprehension Test. The instruments were distributed to 30 students who take the Critical Reading class of the English Department at Universitas Tidar. The data were analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment. The results showed that the value of the correlation coefficient obtained (rxy) was 0.430, and the value of hypothesis testing (t test) was 2.521 with a significance level of 0.05 and a degree of freedom 28. This study concludes a significant and positive correlation between students' reading habits and critical reading skill in the Critical Reading class of the English Department at Universitas Tidar in the medium category. As a suggestion, lecturers are expected to find good strategies to make students interested in reading habits and encourage students to be more active in reading inside and outside the classroom. In addition, this research hopefully can be helpful for readers to know how important reading habits are among students. Students are also expected to develop their reading habits and critical reading for academic success..
