SKRIPSI USING WHAT‟S MISSING GAME IN TEACHING VOCABULARY OF THE FIFTH GRADES OF SD NEGERI GONDOWANGI 1 IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020/2021

Vocabulary is a key to created good communication with other people. In learning English, learners learn vocabulary in order to use language for four language skills that are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Without vocabulary, it is difficult for the learners to express their opinions, ideas, and feelings. Therefore, it is important to choose appropriate game when a teacher teaches vocabulary in a classroom. The objectives of the research are: (1) to know the increase of the student‟s motivation in learning English vocabularies taught by using What‟s Missing Game. (2) to know the improvement of the student‟s vocabulary mastery taught by using What‟s Missing game. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of the research is the fifth graders of SD Negeri Gondowangi 1 in the school year 2020/2021. The total numbers of students are 24. The data of this research were taken from tests and non-test. The data were analyzed by using the formula by Fowler (1991). Based on the analysis of the data in Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, it can be concluded that the use of What‟s Missing Game can increase student‟s motivation and there are improvements in the student‟s vocabulary mastery taught by using What‟s Missing Game which reach the standard score (KKM). The average score of vocabulary mastery in Pre-cycle 12.5%,Cycle I 41.6% and Cycle II 79.1%. The writer suggests the English teacher use What‟s Missing Game to increase the vocabulary mastery of the students. For the student, the writer hopes that the students should practice to use as many words as they can in communication.
