SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ALPHABOXES TECHNIQUE: A CONTEXTUAL TEACHING WRITING CLASSROOM OF RECOUNT TEXT IN VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

The student believes that writing becomes the most difficult abilities because they must pay attention with the correct grammar and vocabulary. The students were confused about writing and began writing a text. They need a long time to think about the idea or topic. The teacher usually uses conventional techniques such as giving the material, asking to do the assignment, and giving feedback. This research was carried out to find whether the Alphaboxes technique is effective in teaching writing recount text and the significant difference of writing achievement between the group that is taught using the Alphaboxes technique and conventional technique. The participants of this study were tenth-grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Semarang in the even semester of the academic year 2020/2021 The method of the research which is used in this research was experimental method. The study was started by giving pre-test, treatments, post-test to experimental group and control group. The result of the t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. It was proven by tvalue (4.448) higher than ttable (1.994). The result above can be concluded that Alphaboxes technique is an effective learning technique in writing classroom of recount in vocational high school. It is suggested that the teacher can use Alphaboxes technique to teach writing for students to build their writing skills as well. The teacher has to find an appropiate technique to build students’ writing habits, therefore the students would feel familiar with the writing acitivity. Thus, the students should always practice writing from early-stage to improve their skill in writing and change their mindset that writing is difficult.
