SKRIPSI USING WALKABOUT REVIEW GAME IN TEACHING VOCABULARY OF THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF MI MA’ARIF GUNUNGPRING IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2020/2021

DANIAH, LULU’ HISANIATUN (2021). “Using Walkabout Review Game in Teaching Vocabulary of the Fifth Grade Students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the School Year 2020/2021”.A Paper. Magelang: English Department, Faculty of Education and Teachers Training, Tidar University.
Vocabulary is a language component and the total number of words or phrases that make up the language and have a function to build communication in every aspect such as trade, education, business, etc. The objectives of the research are: (1) To know whether the use of Walkabout Review Game can increase the student’s learning motivation in learning English of the fifth grades students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the school year 2020/2021. (2) To know whether the use of Walkabout Review Game increase students’ vocabulary mastery in learning English of the fifth graders of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the school year 2020/2021. The type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of the research is the fifth-graders students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the school years 2020/2021. The total numbers of students are 28. The data of this research are taken from tests and non-test. The data were analyzed by using the formula by Fowler (1991). Based on the analysis of the data in Pre-Cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, it can be concluded that the use of Walkabout Review Game can increase student’s motivation from 29.1% to 81.5% and there are improvements in the student’s vocabulary mastery taught by using Walkabout Review Game which reaches the standard score (KKM) from only 17.8% to 82.1% of the total students. The student’s mastery increase occurred due to using Walkabout Review Game that initially they had a low score to be higher. The writer suggests the English teacher use Walkabout Review Game to increase the vocabulary mastery of the students and also use this game so children will be very easy to memorize and learn English. For the student, the writer hopes that students are more enthusiastic in carrying out their day at school.
