An analysis of social values in “Remember The Titans” movie and its implication toward teaching recount text for the tenth graders are motivated by a lack of awareness of the social values of students in the environment. These social values are contained in the film so that students can see the film by studying the existing social values. The objectives of this study are: (1) to reveal a description of the social values contained in remember the titan's movie; (2) to knowing the dominant social values in remember the titans movie and (3) to produce teaching materials for recount text learning in high school class X in the form of handout developed from social values in remember the titan's movie. The theoretical foundations used in this research are pragmatic by Yule (1996), social value by Turkkahraman (2014), and teaching materials by Thomson and Jasmadi (2008) in the form of handouts. This type of research is qualitative. This research focuses on social values as the object. The data source for this research is Remember the Titans Movie by Boaz Yakin which was uploaded on Patrick Arias' YouTube channel on October 13, 2016. The data are in the form of sentences and paragraphs containing social values. The data collection technique used is documentation. The results of the research on social values in Remember The Titans movie are in the form of four types of social values including: (1) obedience (27%); (2) Respect (23%); (3) Cooperation (23%); (4) Politeness (27%). The dominant social values that often appear in the Remember The Titans movie were obedience and politeness, which were 27% of the total data. The Implementation of the results of this study in the form is handouts used for learning literature for class X SMA Curriculum 2013. Handout this contains learning materials for KD 3.7 and KD 4.7. The writer suggests that other researchers can conduct similar research to complete and develop an analysis of social values that have implications for the study of critical discourse in English education which has implications for English education and to reveal other discoveries from other researchers’ point of view. The writer also expects this study can be used as a reference for teachers to understand the types of recount text and what values can be taken from a kind of recount text.
