Lexical bundle is important in academic writing; Hence, it is important for students to understand the various forms and functions of lexical bundle. In writing their final project or paper, mostly students as the writers or researchers find difficulties in arranging the words in their papers. They find difficulties in producing communicative writing and using appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Most of the students usually do not use the correct words order in writing the texts. Therefore, their writings are not cohesive or coherent. On the other hand, students must express their intended meaning to the readers when writing the content of the text. This study applied descriptive qualitative to analyze the lexical bundles found in the introduction section of students’ papers. The data was taken from students’ papers uploaded in the Universitas Tidar’s repository. The writer collected the data through documentation within the text and got 8 introduction section texts to be analyzed. The data was analyzed by classifying the words or the sentences and identifying kinds of lexical bundles. There are 9 from 12 types of lexical bundles’ structures and 10 from 11 types of lexical bundles’ functions found in 8 introduction section text. There are 50 lexical bundles found in students’ papers. The types of structures and functions of lexical bundles dominantly found in students’ papers are other prepositional phrase fragment and text oriented (framing signal). Based on the findings, the functions of lexical bundles mostly used in students’ papers are to situate arguments by specifying limiting conditions and to identify a particular location or time period. The Students should have enough knowledge about lexical bundle because this will lead them to be able constructing coherence and communicative purpose within the text well, so that they will also create a meaningful and cohesive text.
