SKRIPSI AN ANALYSIS OF ADJECTIVE ORDER IN ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT WRITTEN BY THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 TEMANGGUNG

In the analytical exposition text, an adjective order plays a role as one of the elements that complement the text perfectly. There are some types of adjective order and frequently students are used to mentioning the adjective order without knowing their types. However, adjective order contain meanings that described noun. Therefore, students have difficulty understanding the meaning of adjective order. Adjective order also would be necessary to help the students with their vocabulary related to analytical exposition text, especially when it comes to writing skills. Focusing on the students’ adjective order in written analytical exposition text will be beneficial in helping students to construct the sentence better without any fear of boundaries caused by the lack of vocabulary in adjectives. This research needs to be done for two objectives, The first is to find the types of adjective order, and the second one is to find the most dominant types of adjective order that are used in students analytical exposition texts. In conducting the research, the writer uses the descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research is words of adjective order classified into each type of adjective order in students’ analytical exposition text. The data were analyzed using the theory of Herring, P. (2016) The steps of analyzing data are data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion based on Miles, M. H. (2014). The result of this research shows that there are 65 adjective orders applied in 27 analytical exposition texts. Those are divided into 40 Condition Adjective (61.54%), 18 for Opinion Adjective (26.15%%), 5 for Measurement Adjective (7.69%), 2 words for Material Adjective (3.08%), and the last type is 1 word of Color Adjective (1.54%). Based on the data presented above, the most dominant type of adjective order used is Condition Adjective, with the occurrence 40 times or 61.54%.
