SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING FLASHCARD TO IMPROVE STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL OF 6th GRADERS OF SD UNGGULAN 20 SUMURARUM IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2021/2022

EFL students find difficulties or challenges related to the learning process in improving speaking skills such students find difficulties in understanding the vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency, psychological elements, and supporting factors. Based on it, the writer will limit the problem cases, so that the discussion will be more focused. The writer will focus on dealing with students’ speaking ability problems such as students’ difficulty in pronouncing English words and students’ difficulty in understanding the meaning of the words related to the use of English flashcard media in improving students' English speaking skills for elementary school students. The design of his study is a quasi-experiment by applying pre-test and post-test. The result of the test shows that Sig. (2-tailed) the score was 0.000 based on the criteria, indicating that the significance score of the t-test was less than 5% (0.000 < 0.05). It means that there is a very significant difference between the pre-test conditions before being given treatment and the post-test or conditions after being given treatment. On the other hand, it can be said that the pre-test and post-test scores have a significant or significant effect. Then, It can be concluded that flashcard media is an effective English learning medium for improving English speaking skills, especially to improve understanding of the meaning of English words, pronunciation of words, and fluency in speaking. As a suggestion, it can be said that flashcards can be used as an alternative or way for teachers or students in the teaching and learning process, especially in face-to-face learning classes because they can build a more interesting classroom atmosphere, and build students' enthusiasm in learning English.
