SKRIPSI CONTENT ANALYSIS OF SPEAKING MATERIALS IN TEXTBOOK “BAHASA INGGRIS KELAS X” BASED ON SYLLABUS OF K-13 FOR THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS

Speaking is the most crucial skill because it is one of the necessary abilities to perform a conversation. One of the media that teachers and students commonly use is a textbook. Because of the difficulties faced by most of the students in learning English, especially in speaking, the writer focused on speaking materials found in the tenth grade Senior High School students’ textbooks. The reason for analyzing the English textbook for Senior High school is that the book “Bahasa Inggris Kelas X” is issued by the government to support material in the 2013 Curriculum. In this research, the writer analyzed the feasibility of speaking materials in the tenth grade English textbook “Bahasa Inggris Kelas X” based on syllabus of K-13 in SMA Negeri 1 Dukun. According to the statement of the problems, the writer aimed to study the feasibility of speaking materials in the tenth grade English textbook “Bahasa Inggris Kelas X” based on the syllabus of K-13. The type of this research was content analysis. The data source of the research was from the English textbook. The writer took the English textbook and syllabus used by tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Dukun. To found the total speaking materials compatibility of English textbooks based on the syllabus of K-13, the writer used the score of assessment from BSNP to help presented the data in the form of numbers. The result showed that the score of completeness in 15 chapters was 4, which means Very Good. The in-depth score was 4, which means Very Good. The social function score was 4, which means Very Good. The score of generic structure was 4, which means Very Good. The linguistic features score was 3, which means Good. The relevance score in 15 chapters was 3, which means Good. The score of development of life skills was 4, which means Very Good. The score of the development of diversity insight was 2, which means Bad. The percentage of feasibility of the speaking materials in textbook “Bahasa Inggris Kelas X” was 87.5%. As a result, the feasibility of the content in speaking materials from textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris Kelas X” is good and appropriate with syllabus of 2013 curriculum.
