SKRIPSI IMPERATIVE SENTENCE ANALYSIS IN THE MOVIE ENTITLED “FROZEN” AND ITS APPLICATION IN TEACHING WRITING FOR THE EIGHTH GRADERS

English requires the student to be able to master the four skills including writing that are very important to be learned by them. It deals with transferring an idea into a writing product in the form of sentences. One sentence type is the imperative sentence which not only has the function to express a command but also many more other functions. In the Indonesian curriculum, the material about the imperative sentence is included in the eighth-grade curriculum. However, the mandatory materials are still not supported by the adaptive and up-to-date media and various sources of materials. So, there must be another media for the teacher to deliver the material by using attractive sources and media. The writer is interested in analyzing imperative sentences in Frozen Movie, then using the result to teach writing to eighth graders. The study's objectives are to find the types, the most common type, and the application of the result to teaching writing for eighth graders. This study implemented descriptive qualitative in analyzing the types and functions of imperative sentences found in Frozen Movie. The data was taken from the whole Frozen Movie video. The writer collected the data by observing the video, and discourse analysis, and documented them. The writer analyzed the data by classifying the imperative types and the functions. Then, create the application based on the data. The study reveals there are 320 data of imperative sentences. There is imperative sentence without a subject with 170 data (55%), imperative sentence with a subject with 83 data (26%), negative imperative sentence with 42 data (13%), imperative sentence with let with 25 data (8%). For the function, there are order/command with 126 data (39%); request, warning, and advice/recommendation with 36 data (11%); suggestion with 27 data (8%); prohibition with 23 data (7%); plea with 15 data (5%); offer with 10 data (3%); instruction, invitation, and self-deliberation with 3 data (1%); and granting permission with 2 data (1%). It can be concluded that imperative sentences in the Frozen Movie can be used to teach writing to eighth graders. Because it can overcome the lack of creative media and sources in the teaching-learning process in Indonesia. The imperative sentence in Frozen Movie is very suitable for eighth graders students because it is an animated movie that will be more interesting for them in learning.
