SKRIPSI USING PICTURE AND PICTURE TECHNIQUE WITH JAMBOARD MEDIA TO ENHANCE THE STUDENTS’ DESCRIPTIVE TEXT WRITING SKILLS

Writing is one of the four language skills that require students to have broad insight, be creative, and think critically. However, writing skills are still considered difficult for most students. The use of interesting technique and media can increase students' motivation and students’ writing skills and reduce their difficulties. The objectives of this study were (a) to know whether or not the use of picture and picture technique with Jamboard media can enhance the learning motivation of the descriptive text writing skills of the 7B graders of SMP Negeri 2 Temanggung, and (b) to know how great, the use of picture and picture technique with Jamboard media can enhance of the students’ descriptive text writing skills of the 7B graders of SMP Negeri 2 Temanggung. The writer conducted Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was divided into Pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The subjects of this study were 32 students in the 7B class of SMP Negeri 2 Temanggung. The writer used observation, questionnaire, documentation, and test to collect the data. The results of this study indicated that students were motivated in receiving the implementation of picture and picture technique with Jamboard media in writing descriptive text. The writer compared the observation and questionnaire results in a pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II to know the enhancement of the students’ motivation, in the precycle, the average of students’ motivation was 51.2%, in the cycle was 69.4%, and in the cycle II was 82.3%. It indicated that more than half of the students were active, listened to the teacher's explanation, asked the teacher about the difficult material, and did the tasks in both meetings to write a descriptive text. The test results showed that most students enhanced their writing skills in descriptive text material. The average score for pre-cycle was 71.8, the average for cycle I test was 81.8, and the average students’ writing score in cycle II was 84.1. Only six students didn’t pass the standard minimum score. It means that the students have reached more than 75%. The implementation of the Picture and Picture technique with Jamboard media in descriptive text material in this teaching-learning process can enhance the students’ motivation and students’ writing skills in the learning process of writing descriptive text.
