The objectives of the study are to know the types of grammatical cohesion in descriptive texts written by the sixth-grade students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the school year 2022/2023 and to know the most grammatical cohesion in descriptive texts written by the sixth-grade students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring in the school year 2022/2023. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research where the writer describes the types of grammatical cohesion in every data. The writer took ten students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring as the subject of the research. To conduct the research, the writer analyzed the types of grammatical cohesion based on Halliday and Hasan’s theory. The result shows there are two types of grammatical cohesion found in descriptive texts written by the sixth grade students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring. They are reference with 65 data (75.29%), conjunction with 20 data (23.52%). The findings of the research show that the most dominant grammatical cohesion used by the students’ the sixth grade students of MI Ma’arif Gunungpring is a personal reference. The percentage show us about 48.00 %. It shows that the students have the ability to use grammatical cohesion in their text. It implies that learning grammatical cohesion is important in learning English, especially for the students while teaching and learning process. It has function to improve the students mastery in writing English by understanding the cohesive devices. Then, it motivates the students to write a better text in the future.
