SKRIPSI INVESTIGATING VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF ENGLISH FORMATIVE TEST IN ONLINE LEARNING AT SMPN 1 SECANG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed education became online learning. Learning cannot be separated from evaluation, and one evaluation often used is a test. The validity and reliability must also be analyzed to produce a good evaluation instrument. In knowing the importance of the analysis test items, this research was carried out in-depth regarding the quality of the English Formative Test at SMPN 1 Secang. The aims of this research were (1) to determine the validity of the test items in the English Formative Test in Online Learning and (2) to determine the reliability of the English Formative Test in Online Learning. The research subject was the analysis of validity and reliability items on the English Formative Test. Meanwhile, the object of this study was an English formative test for seventh graders students in online learning at SMPN 1 Secang. The application of quantitative descriptive was also applied to this study as an appropriate method for explaining the analysis results. The writer also chooses documentation techniques to collect the data, such as the item test, the lesson plan, and student answers. In this research, there are 123 students as the sample from the seventh graders at SMPN 1 Secang in the academic year 2021/2022. Two scopes of validity, namely (1) content validity and (2) item validity. On content validity, the test items were analyzed using the syllabus to determine the accuracy of the test items with content learning. The analysis result of content validity was 100%, so it classified “Good” in relevancy. While on item validity, calculations were carried out with the help of SPSS and detailed with Biserial Correlation Formula. For the item validity, all item tests are greater than 0,175 or valid. There is also a reliability analysis. The writer analyzed it using Microsoft Excel, producing 0,61 or High in consistency. The three calculation results show that the English formative test for the seventh grade at SMPN 1 Secang is categorized as a good test based on the percentage accuracy of the test items with the syllabus, the calculation result of item validity, and reliability. In content validity, all test items are applied in the syllabus. In item validity, all questions are included in valid questions even though the classification is still relatively low. The last part is reliability analysis, and this study produces a "High" calculation in the test category based on Sudjiono (2014).
