SKRIPSI TEACHERS’ STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING READING IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DISTANCE LEARNING DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN SMA NEGERI 1 BANDONGAN YEAR 2021/2022

During the Covid-19 pandemic, schools must continue to carry out learning to students at home. Learning activities are guided by online teachers through social media or available learning applications. Consequently, teachers need to design distance learning that is varied and not boring. Besides that, teacher can take advantage of several learning applications that carrying out online teaching and learning activities in practice requires more effort and strategies compared to face-to-face learning communication with students due to the limited space for body language movement. The objectives of the study are to find out the strategies do the teachers use for teaching reading in the implementation of distance learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic in SMA Negeri 1 Bandongan Year 2021/2022 and to identify how are the teachers’ strategies for teaching reading in the implementation of distance learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic in SMA Negeri 1 Bandongan Year 2021/2022. In this study, writer used a qualitative approach using three instruments, namely observation, interview, and documentation. The data obtained has been processed in several ways, the first is data reduction, presenting the findings, and describing the data conclusion (Sugiono, 2016:8). The participants in this study were two English teachers SMAN 1 Bandongan Year 2021/2022 with a duration of 2 meetings. The results of this research showed that two teaching reading strategies used by the English teachers during Covid-19. The strategies were Reading Aloud and Guided Reading. The steps that applied by the English teachers of SMAN 1 Bandongan Year 2021/2022 in implementing the strategies were mostly same, they used online platform Microsoft Teams and school website namely SMABAL. https://www.sman1bandongan.web.id/ The writer hopes this research can encourage them to consider a better way of teaching reading comprehension to improve the student’s ability, and apply the other interesting strategies through an online class.
