SKRIPSI DEVELOPING "UMON VN" APPLICATION AS LEARNING MEDIA FOR TEACHING RECOUNT TEXT READING SKILL IN MERDEKA CURRICULUM

Teaching English as a foreign language in senior high schools should present innovative and exciting learning media. The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum currently provides diverse intra-curricular learning opportunities. Most students wanted to avoid the learning media used to deliver the recount text, mainly textbooks. Recount text material is in senior high school. The writer created a visual novel-type application called "UMON VN." The visual novel as a reading textbased learning media is suitable for a creative, innovative, engaging, and fun learning media solution. The writer has three objectives in this study: (1) Explain the student's needs for learning media of recount text reading skills in the Merdeka Curriculum. (2) Explain the process of the "UMON VN" application. (3) Know the feasibility of the "UMON VN" application.The study belongs to design and development research (DBR). However, the writer uses the first three step, analysis, design, and develop. Afterward, the experts validated the feasibility.In the need analysis of students and teachers regarding the UMON VN application as learning media for teaching recount text, the writer concluded that engaging media learning is needed. In the design stages, the writer created identity and the flowchart of the UMON VN application. Next, the writer created a storyboard that contains the storyline of the UMON VN application. The writer also made a guidebook framework as the basis for making a guidebook as instructions. In the processed of develop, the writer made application and guidebook. Then the writer validated this application to experts, which shows a feasibility rate of 85.39%. Therefore, this application is very feasible to use in teaching After validation, this application does not require further revisions. The use of the UMON VN application as learning media is expected to increase student enthusiasm and also students' cognitive understanding. Further research is expected to make learning media more exciting and innovative in line with developments in the digital era. Moreover, the further researcher can also use this application to continue the ADDIE step, implementation and evaluation step.
