SKRIPSI USING GUIDED WRITING STRATEGY TO TEACH RECOUNT TEXT WRITING SKILLS FOR THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 3 MAGELANG IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/ 2022

Writing is an activity of producing ideas and knowledge into written language. The writer can express their idea and knowledge, and also it can be based on their meaning or argument about some topic. The students’ writing skill of SMAN 3 Magelang is still low especially in recount text. It can be seen from the students’ writing score that still under the criteria of mastery learning (KKM). In solving the problem, the researcher applied Guided Writing Strategy. Guided Writing Strategy is one of teaching strategy that can help the students to comprehend the writing text through doing some procedures which guided and monitored by the teacher. This study aims to find out the ability and significant difference in the tenth-grade students writing skills in recount text after being taught with Guided Writing Strategy at SMAN 3 Magelang in the academic year 2021/ 2022.
The research method was quantitative and categorized as a quasi-experimental design. In this research, the population was the tenth-grade students of SMAN 3 Magelang. The sample of the research was the two classes consisting 36 students for each class and will be divided into experimental and control class. In addition, the instrument used to collect the data in this research was a test in the form of writing a recount text. The test was given in pre-test and post-test. After giving pretest and post-test, the result of the data being analysed using statistical analysis in SPSS. It used Independent Sample T-test.
Based on the data analysis computed by using SPSS, the results showed that the value Sig. = 0.039 and the significant level α = 0.05. It means that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) was lower than significant level (0.039 < 0.05), then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In consequently, there is a significant difference in using Guided Writing Strategy to teach recount text writing skills for the tenth-grade students of SMAN 3 Magelang in academic year 2021/ 2022. Moreover, as a suggestion, the teachers should consider an appropriate teaching strategy based on the students’ needs and conditions to build up their learning motivation and create a good atmosphere of learning process. For the students, they have to be more active in joining the learning process and build their own motivation for understanding the concept and the knowledge of the materials, it can help them to achieve the goals of the study effectively.
