This study was conducted to show formulaic expressions of dialogues text from the Bahasa Inggris textbook. The writer analyzed types of formulaic expressions in dialogues text. The objectives of the study were to describe the types of formulaic expressions and to find out the most dominant type of formulaic expressions found in dialogues in the Bahasa Inggris textbook. This study was descriptive qualitative research. This study used the theory from Biebers (1999) about types of formulaic expressions. The data collecting procedures are selecting the dialogues and then categorizing the data based on formulaic expression found in the dialogues. The next step is the writer analyzing the data based on formulaic expression using the aforementioned data collection procedure stated by Miles and Hubberman (2014). The writer found 134 formulaic expressions from the dialogues text of Bahasa Inggris textbook. They are idiom, lexical bundles, insert, and collocation. The dominant type of formulaic expression used in textbook dialogue text is insert with 81 clauses which it represents 60%. Next are lexical bundles with 27 clauses which it represents 20%. Then collocations with 25 clauses which it represent 19%. The last is idiom with 1 clauses which it represents only 1%. The research findings reveal four types of formulaic expressions in the dialogues analyzed, with the insert type being the most dominant, while no instances of binomial phrases and free combinations of free + particle were found. The suggestions derived from the study are as follows: learners should invest more time in studying formulaic expressions to enhance their natural and fluent EFL speech, as these expressions offer advantages in learning and daily activities. For teachers, it is advised to incorporate formulaic expressions in instructional materials, enabling students to become familiar with their usage and facilitate more natural and fluent communication. Furthermore, the study encourages other writers to explore different types of formulaic expressions in dialogues beyond those analyzed in the English high school textbook, using this research as a valuable reference for future investigations.
