SKRIPSI THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVE KNOWLEDGE SHARING STRATEGY THROUGH EXPLANATION TEXT TO IMPROVE THE 11th GRADERS’ SPEAKING SKILL AT SMA N 4 MAGELANG

To reached the goals of learning English, speaking becomes the language skill that is essential to be mastered by students in any level of education. However, there are many inhibitions to learn speaking skill since it needs continuous practice and interaction. This concern also exacerbated by the application of learning strategies by the teacher in the post-pandemic era that affect the students’ learning habits. The objective of the study is to reveal whether or not the students who are taught using the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy have better speaking skill than those who are taught using the Mind Mapping strategy at SMA N 4 Magelang and its measurement of improvement. The study employed the true experimental research design with the cluster random sampling technique. The sample was 71 students, 11th grade students in two classes from XI MIPA 2 as the experimental group with 36 students and XI IPS 2 as the control group that contains 35 students. The experimental group was taught using the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy and the control group was using the Mind Mapping strategy. The data of pre-test and post-test were analyzed using the T-test. After analyzing the data, T-test result was higher than the T-table (4.468 > 1.995). It showed that there is a difference significancy between the experimental and the control groups in terms of speaking skill. The post-test means score comparison between the experimental and the control group were also pointed out that the experimental group had a higher score in speaking skill aspect with the final means score was 82 from the pre-test score 73. It is supporting with the N-gain score 0.32 points that was considered as the level of effectiveness moderate. The control group compared with the experimental group score had 77 score in post-test from 71 score in pre-test. This group had 0.21 points in N-gain score which refers to low level of efficacy. According to the elaboration, the writer briefly summarized that the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy is effective to improve 11th graders’ speaking skill. This learning strategy is fruitful for the teacher to increase the students’ speaking practice and boost students’ self-confidence to perform and interact with their friends in English.
