SKRIPSI INVESTIGATING LEARNERS’ PERCEPTION IN WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT OF THE ELEVENTH GRADERS: POPPLET MEDIA PRACTICES IN HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION

English is one of the world's languages. Recently, English has been the most widely spoken language in the world. In Indonesia, English turns into a foreign language. At the Indonesian education level, English is taught from elementary to high school. One of the skills that are necessary to be mastered is writing. The writer found several problems that arise during the learning process. The students need to learn more using interactive learning media. Teachers still use paper-based learning media in teaching and learning activities. The teacher used textbooks as the primary media for learning. Textbooks are used monotonously and students get bored during class. The teacher does not provide interactive learning media.
This research aimed to find the difficulties faced by eleventh graders students when comprehending writing descriptive text using Popplet and to know how learners' perceptions of using Popplet in writing descriptive text. The study was conducted at Vocational High School 2 Magelang. The subject of this study was 36 students in the academic year 2021/2022. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. Observation, questionnaire, and interview are employed as the data collection techniques. The writer distributed the questionnaire, which consisted of 21 items, to 36 participants and did the interview with 6 respondents. In addition, the data was analyzed by using Cresswell's (2017) theory and used Denzin’s (2015) theory for data validation.
Based on the result showed that the response of the students gave positive perception about using Popplet in writing descriptive and most of the students did not face any difficulties when comprehending writing descriptive text using Popplet. Popplet assists in creating a visual representation of student thoughts, thereby simplifying the writing process. Popplet also is an interesting learning media. It was mentioned that Popplet has a straightforward and effortless interface. Popplet provides a convenient and accessible platform for accessing online Learning media.
