SKRIPSI DEVELOPING LISTENING MATERIAL USING YOUTUBE VIDEOS FOR 12th GRADERS

Listening skills have a significant part in learning English because receiving language input is a major skill that is important when learning a language. In addition, using YouTube videos is promising for enhancing the students’ listening achievements in the classroom. This research aimed at finding out the students’ listening achievements and the effect of YouTube videos for enhancing the students’ listening achievements in the classroom. The design of the research was quantitative research which is pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample was chosen 5 students from XII MIPA 1 of SMA Negeri 1 Mojotengah. Interview and Questionnaire were used as the instruments. The data collection techniques that were used were non-test. In the non-test technique, there were observation, questionnaires, and interview. Then the data were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative techniques. The students’ innate knowledge in jargon, idiom, and vocabulary are limited. They also have difficulties to interpret and unfocused during a listening practice.
From the result above, as promising to use YouTube for a listening practice can be, its’ success relies on the cooperation between the teacher and the students. Teacher has to prepare their listening materials and equipments and also students have to have a realization to improve their English skills independently prior to a listening practice.
