SKRIPSI ENHANCING STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH BLOOKET PLATFORM MEDIA OF GREETING CARD TEACHING MATERIALS IN NINTH GRADERS OF HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION

One of the abilities that should be prioritized is reading comprehension because it allows students to learn more independently. Teachers frequently struggle to select the best teaching strategies, technology or media to address students' reading difficulties. Therefore, the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) offers many advantages for students to improve their language skills, particularly reading. As a result of the numerous advantages ICT tools provide pupils, using them also increases students' motivation in reading. One of the ICT tools as a learning media to enhance students' reading comprehension is Blooket. Thus, this study aims to show how great the use and improvement of the Blooket platform can enhance students' reading comprehension. The type of this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The writer used purposive sampling in this study, which was class IX D at SMPN 11 Kota Magelang in the school year 2022/2023, with a total of sample 26 students. The observation sheet, the questionnaire sheet, and the reading test were utilized in this study. Also, the writer used Microsoft Excel, Google Forms, and Blooket platform media to collect the data. This study consisted of several findings: (1) The students’ motivation and performance toward reading class was high, which was 77%. In addition, the overall mean score of the student’s motivational level demonstrates a moderate degree of motivation; a total improvement from the pre-cycle to cycle II, which was 0.17. (2) The average score in students’ reading comprehension in cycle II post-test result was 94.8, the highest average score compared with the previous cycles. The total improvement from pre-cycle to cycle II was 38.3. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that there was a significant improvement after implementing the Blooket platform media in teaching students’ reading comprehension of greeting card materials. As a suggestion, SMPN 11 Kota Magelang teachers should consider using technology in the English class to make the students interested in the teaching-learning process. Moreover, it is better for the other researchers to know the students’ abilities and interests deeply to make the classroom atmosphere interesting and exciting.
