The recent rise in popularity of Role – Playing games has gathered significant attention, presenting a unique opportunity for enhancing students' English reading skills as an alternative method. Role-Playing Games provide a flexible reading experience continuously which potentially could improve students’ motivation to read and also increase their reading skill.
Role-Playing Games potentially could affect students reading skill and interest in reading. Therefore, the writer wanted to find out how far do Role-Playing Games influence MTs Sudirman students' English reading skill. The writer also wanted find out to what extent role-playing games motivate MTs Sudirman students in reading skill.
The writer used a qualitative descriptive case study approach to investigate the influence of Role – Playing games on students. Furthermore, the writer used qualitative data analysis for this study, which consisted of data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The participant of this research is Class VIII A in MTs Sudirman Tempuran. Moreover, the writer used primary and secondary data resources where questionnaire and interview are used to collect primary data.
The results shows that Role – Playing games significantly influence students reading skill at MTs Sudirman Tempuran. Role – Playing games serves as a catalyst for mitigating students fear toward English text. Furthermore, Role – Playing games succeed in creating an enjoyable reading experience, even when confronted with challenging English texts, and motivating students to read English texts further.
In conclusion Role-Playing games influence positively. From Role-Playing games Students could enjoy reading while improving their reading skill. From this study, writer suggest that students could use Role-Playing Games as an alternative for learning reading, while educator could introduce Role-Playing Games to students as alternative or supplement material. Future researchers who would like to analyse Role-Playing Games effect further could conduct a study that relates to another skill such as listening, speaking, or writing.
