ABSTRACT
The research on the effect of fertilizing the mother trees on tea cuttings growth (Camellia sinensis L.) had been carried out from February 20 until June 12, 1992. The location of the research was in Pagilaran tea Company. Batang Regency. Central Java Province, with the elevation of about 1000 metres above sea level. The soil type is Andosol, with the acidity (pH) 5,0 The design used was experimental design based of Randomized Complete Design (RCD) consisted of four treatments were tested with Duncan's Test at 5% level. The observation. was done on the factor:
P0: without fertilizer (control)
P1: using 2% concentration of ZA fertilizer
P2: using 0,2% concentration of Bayfolan fertilizer
P3: using 0,5% concentration of ZnS04, fertilizer
The result of this research showed that 2% concentration of ZA fertilizer affect very significantly to the number of leaves, length of shoots, length of roots, fresh weight of shoots and dry weight of shoots, significantly affect the fresh weight of roots, percentage of alive cuttings, no significantly effect to the number of roots and dry weight of roots.
The Bayfolan fertilizer affect significantly to the number of leaves, length of shoots, percentage of alive cuttings and length of roots, no significant effect on the number of roots, fresh weight of shoots and dry weight of roots.
The ZnSO4, fertilizer affect very significantly to the number of leaves, fregh weight of roots and dry weight of roots, signi- ficantly affect the percentage of alive cuttings, number of roots, the length of shoots and length of roots, no significant effect to the fresh weight of shoots and dry weight of shoots.
The best fertilizer to affect the growth of tea cuttinge (Camellia sinensis L.) is ZnSO4 (Zink Sulfate).
