The experiment on the effect number of joint and kind of media to youthful continued success cuttings of durians (durio zibethinus Murr), variety Petruk, had been caried out from Juli, 15 until Desember 15, 1993. The location of the experiment was in Potrobangsan. Magelang. Central Java Province with the elevation of about 376 metres above sea

level. The design used was experimental design bassed of Ran- domized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisted of two factor and three block were tested with Duncan's Test at 5% level.

The observation was done on the faktor:

Factor 1.

Number of join (J) are with three level,

J1 Number of joint two

J2 Number of joint four

J3 Number of joint six

Faktor 2. Kind of media (M) are with three level,

Mo The latosol soil (control)

M1: The latosol soil the manure of sheepe
M2 The latosol soil the organic manure INRA

The result of this experiment showed that number of

joint affect very significantly to that percentage of alive cuttings, increase length of stem, significantly affect the of number of leaves, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots, lenght of roots, and number of lateral roots.

The kind of media affect very significanty to the in- crease length of stem, number of leaves, fresh weight of roots, dry weight of roots, length of roots and number of la- teral roots. Significantly to percentage of alive cuttings.

No interaction between number of join and kind of me- dia to all parametres.

The best of liners original youthful continued cutt- ings use number of joint faur and kind of media latosol + the organic manure INRA.
