SKRIPSI PENAMPILAN BEBERAPA KARAKTER AGRONOMIS TANAMAN LOMBOK MERAH (Capsicum annum. L) Var. HOT BEAUTY HASIL RADIASI GAMMA Co-60

ABSTRACT
A research about Agronomic Performance of Some Red Pepper (Capsicum annum. L) Hot Beauty Varieties as a Result of Gamma Co-60 Radiation. The research has been conducted at Ngluwar village, Ngluwar district, Magelang regency, from July to December 1997 on the Regosol soil and altitude of 390. The aim is to know the effect of gamma ray radiation on the change of agronomic characters of the red pepper and to determine the optimum dose to increase productivity.

This research is one factor experiment based on Randomized complete Block Design with three replications. The factor is gamma ray dose of Co-60, consisted of 11 levels: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 krad.

The result of the research showes that dose of 12 krad gives significant effect on flower initiation, height of plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of flower and number of ripe fruits. Increasing dose until 10 krad can increase height of plant and number of ripe fruits perplot. Higher dose until 20 krad higher effect in decreases some observed parameters on the other hand, this dose of radiation increases productive branchs, number of aborted fruit and number of seeds per fruit, but decreases of number of unripe fruits and number of branches. Increasing dose until 8 krad can increase the percentage of fruit. At dose of 16,18 and 20 krad there are changes on morfological characters like thickness, width of leaves and plant tend to be stunted.
