SKRIPSI PENGARUH MACAM MULSO ORGANIK TERHADAP HASIL BEBERAPA VARIETAS MENTIMUN (Cucumis Sativvus L)

ABSTRACT

The research about "The effect of kind of organic mulching to the yield of cucumber varieties (Cucumis sativus L)" had been conducted at Tanggulangin, Girikulon, Secang, Magelang, Central Java from May 11, 1996 on latosol soil with 6,5 pH and the altitude 390 metres above the sea level.

The factorial research uses randomized complete block design (RCDB), consisted of two factors and three replica- tion. The first factor is kind of variety (V) consisted of local (Dawuan kasokandel), No. 179 (Ninja) and Venus variety. The second factor is kind of organic mulching (M) consisted

of without mulch, saw dust, chaff and straws. The result of this experiment showes:

1. The Venus variety gives the highest number of flowers per plant, weight of fruits per plant, weight of fruits per plot, lenght of fruits, fresh weight of straw and dry weight of straw.

2. Straw mulch gives the highest number of flowers per plant, number of fruits per plant, weight of fruits per plant, weight of fruits per plot, fresh weight of straw and dry weight of straw.

3. Combination treatment between Venus variety and straw mulch (VM) gives highest weight of fruits 1877,00 g per plant compared to other combination treatment. The combination treatment No.179 (Ninja) and without mulch (VM) gives the lowest weight of fruits there was 2 977,33 g per plant, but highest number of fruits this No.179 (Ninja) variety the average 5,39 per plant.
