SKRIPSI UTILIZING VIDEO PROJECTS TO ENHANCE THE TENTH GRADERS’ SPEAKING SKILLS

In English Language Teaching, speaking is one of the very influential skills because this skill is essential to communicating with one another. Many students need more confidence in speaking because of low pronunciation, and teachers need help improving the method and technique to make students interested in learning English speaking. Those aspects need improvement because the students need help in speaking competencies such as grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and pronunciation. After conducting the speaking competencies, students are expected to be more confident in sharing their ideas and thoughts.
This study aimed to describe the significance of video projects in improving students’ speaking skills and overcoming speaking problems such as less motivation, lack of self-confidence, wrong pronunciation, and grammar.
The subjects were tenth-grader students in the academic year 2023/2024. A classroom action research approach was used by non-test and test collection techniques. The video project as media also included a questionnaire and results of speaking skills; the data findings were examined using the theory of Kemmis and Taggart and verified using Hughes (2003).
Utilizing video projects had the benefit of improving students’ speaking skills. The data on this study showed that pronunciation increased to 90 scores (63%), and grammar score increased to 99 (69%). Meanwhile, in fluency scores, it is 91 (63%). Part of vocabulary 97 scores (67%). Then, based on implementation through classroom action research, “Utilizing Video Projects to Enhance the Tenth Graders’ Speaking Skills” showed that the study can enhance the speaking skills of the X8 class on SMAN 3 Temanggung in the school year 2023/2024.
