The classroom management system underwent a significant revision due to the Covid-19 outbreak, especially in the teaching and learning process in the 2022-2023 school year in the post Corona Virus Disease Pandemic due to the enactment of the Joint Decree of the Council of Ministers of Education and Culture.Teachers must quickly learn new health protocols. To teach English in post Covid-19, teachers must change their classroom management strategies.English teachers also identified several new problems with implementing face-to-face learning in post the Covid-19 pandemic. Poor classroom management causes low student learning outcomes.
The study aims to describe how English teachers manage their classrooms when teaching English and to find out the problems that English teachers have regarding classroom management when teaching English. The research used descriptive qualitative research method. The research instruments used are interviews and observation. The subjects of this study are three SMK N 3 Magelang teachers.
The findings show that there are several strategies used by teachers to manage English classes. There are seating arrangements, arranging learning activities, choosing exciting topics, and disciplining students with rigid rules. Teachers also found several classroom management problemsthere are lack of vocabulary, low student motivation, mother language disorders, student boredom, dependence on mobile phones, less effective study hours, and a shortage of classrooms.In implementing learning, the teacher needed help with classroom management. The problems found in classroom management can help predict things that will be encountered in teaching English.
