In writing an announcement text, the text cannot be separated from the language features. It is important for the students to understand the language features used in the announcement text. Language features that are used in announcement text can help the students to write a good announcement text.
This research focuses on language features of students’ writing in announcement text written by the tenth grader of SMKN 2 Buduran. The objective of the study is to describe the language feature of the students’ writing on announcement text and to analyze the result of students’ writing on announcement text fulfilled the language features of announcement text.
The method of research used in this research was descriptive qualitative. The research subject of this study was the thirty-four students’ announcement text of the X-RPL of SMKN 2 Buduran in 2022/2023. The data collection was carried out using documentation.
The research showed twenty-six students used simple present tense, seventeen students used simple future tense, thirteen students used proper nouns, fourteen students used imperative sentences, and thirty-two students used declarative sentences. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the students understanding on using the language features in announcement text should be improved. Therefore, the students can write a better announcement text.
There are five language features on announcement text: simple present tense, simple future tense, proper noun, imperative sentence, and declarative sentence. Overall, almost all of the tenth-grader students understand how to write an announcement text. However, the students need to improve in using simple future tense, proper nouns, and imperative sentences.
