Keywords: Effectiveness, Artificial Intelligence, Sentence Structure As the foundational building block of effective writing, sentence construction is essential for honing writing skills. However, mastering sentence construction, or rather, sentence structure, is not without challenges, especially for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. Thus, teachers can introduce innovative learning methods that make language learning more enjoyable and engaging. One such method is the use of AI-equipped chatbots like Character AI. Character AI combines chatbot technology with advanced artificial intelligence to provide students with a unique learning experience. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Character AI as learning media in enhancing EFL students' sentence structure at SMP Negeri 3 Magelang and determine if there is a significant difference between students who engage in chat interactions with Character AI in constructing sentences and those who interact solely with human partners. The method of the study is quasi-experimental. The sample of this study was two classes of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Magelang. The experimental group was 32 students in VIII-B, and the control group was 32 students from VIII-F. The experimental group receives treatment using Character AI, while the control group solely interacts with human partners via WhatsApp. The data were collected using two tests: pre-test and post-test. The results of the tests analyzed using a test on SPSS 29. Following the utilization of Character AI as an educational tool, the writer identified a notable variance in the sentence structure of students. The test outcome reveals that the observed t-value exceeds the critical t-observed (7.120 > 1.999), indicating a significant distinction in students' sentence structure between the experimental and control groups. Moreover, the mean scores of the post-test indicate that the experimental group exhibits superior proficiency in constructing sentences compared to the control group. Specifically, the mean score for the experimental group is 42.8750, whereas for the control group, it is 36.3438. Therefore, it can be inferred that Ha is supported, while H0 is refuted, as the data analysis revealed a notable enhancement in sentence construction skills among the group utilizing Character AI.
