Keywords: Effectiveness, Guided Oral Presentation, Speaking Skill Speaking can be defined as an interactive process of establishing meaning. Speaking in the (target) language determines success in language learning. However, it is very challenging for EFL students to speak English because they lack vocabulary, lack motivation, and feel hesitant while speaking. A lot of practice is needed, according to Brown (2001), who suggested that teachers should provide enjoyable techniques to motivate learners to express themselves. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the guided oral presentation technique, which serves as a structured approach that can directly contribute to fostering phase-E students' speaking skill, particularly in Recount Text material. The sample of this study was selected through cluster random sampling. A total of 70 students: 35 students from phase E-7 as an experimental class who taught using guided oral presentation technique, and 35 students from phase E-8 as a control class who taught using lecturing technique. The data was collected using a quasi-experimental design by applying pre-test and post-test in both classes.
