Writing is essential in language learning because writing communicates information and represents the writer's thoughts and ideas. Writing skills are complex and challenging to teach, so giving feedback is one of the most important things for writing class.
However, based on the observation at SMKN Bansari, the writer found that the students thought learning English was challenging and had difficulty revising their work. This study aims to know the effectiveness of Peer Correction Feedback treatment in teaching writing to improve students’ writing skills at the tenth graders at SMKN Bansari.
The method of the study was quasi-experimental. The population of the study was 320 students. The sample was 36 students from Agribisnis Tanaman 2 as an experimental group and 36 students from Agribisnis Tanaman 1 as a control group. The experimental group was taught using Peer Correction Feedback, while the control group was taught lecturing. The data were collected using two tests: pre-test and post-test. The results of the tests were analyzed using a t-test on SPSS 22.
After implementing peer correction feedback, the writer found that the students' scores in the experimental class increased by 24.86, where the average score on the pre-test was 53.11 and the post-test was 77.94. Also, the writer found a significant difference in the student’s writing skill, as shown by the t-test results (0,000). It means that peer correction feedback improved students' writing skills, as Sig (0,000) demonstrated, which was lower than α (0,05).
Based on the study's results, the writer concluded that peer correction feedback effectively improves the students' writing skill. There was a significant difference in the students' writing achievement before and after receiving peer correction feedback.
