Writing is one of the productive activities in English language skills. Writing involves cognitive processes. Therefore, writing is considered a language skill that is more challenging to master than others. Many students often experience difficulties in writing, especially in generating ideas and developing their writing into a coherent paragraph. Apart from that, it is known that there are still many teachers who have not implemented appropriate learning techniques to help students write. One of the teaching techniques and media that teachers can use in writing practice is the Think-Pair-Share technique with Mural Application as teaching media.
The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference in the text writing skills of students who are taught using the Think-Pair-Share with Mural Application technique compared to students who are taught using conventional techniques and to determine the effectiveness of the text writing skills of students who are taught. Think-Pair-Share with Mural Application technique as a technique and medium for teaching students' analytical exposition text writing skills. This study is quantitative research which applied quasi experimental design and collected the data through pre-test and post-test. The participants of this study were 72 tenth graders at SMAN 1 Salaman who were divided into two groups, namely experimental group and control group.
Based on the analyzed data, p-value or sig. (2-tailed) in hypothesis testing using the Mann- Whitney test was 0.00 which was lower than the level of significance determined, 0.05. means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted or techniques and teaching media implemented has a significant difference between two groups who got different treatment. This finding is further strengthened by seeing that the students' writing ability in writing Analytical Exposition Text increased significantly from the average score of the two group.
