SKRIPSI THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCAPLAY PLATFORM AS LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH GRADERS IN MTS NEGERI 1 MAGELANG

Keywords: Educaplay platform, Reading comprehension, Recount Text.Reading comprehension is a complex cognitive process that requires the reader to be alert and thoughtful. The reader must continuously monitor the words and their meaning as they progress through the reading material. Based on the author's observation of the eighth grade at MTs Negeri 1 Magelang, it was found that students' reading comprehension was still low, as shown by their average score of 69. This study aims to determine whether the Educaplay platform can increase students' learning motivation in grade VIII at MTs Negeri 1 Magelang.The study used a quasi-experimental design, with class 8a as the experimental group (n=22) and class 8b as the control group (n=22), selected using the purposive sampling technique. The experimental group was taught using the Educaplay platform, while the control group used Google Forms.The results showed that the mean score for the experimental group's pre-test was 63.63, while the post-test mean score was 76.59. The T-test revealed a statistically significant difference (p-value of 0.000 < 0.05), indicating the effectiveness of the intervention. Furthermore, the effect size, calculated as Cohen's d, was 1.34, more significant than 0.8, categorizing it as a large effect size. These results suggest that the Educaplay platform had a significant positive impact on students' reading comprehension skills.
