Keywords: PWIM; Teaching; Writing Skill; Recount TextMany students had difficulties due to writing. The challenges on writing activity from both internal and external. Internal challenges are from within the students itself, especially motivation in learning new things, especially in improving writing skill. The external challenge is the student's own environment. Where the environment affects all motivation for students to develop talents or improve skill. Many teachers still use the lecturing model to explain the material, but that makes students bored quickly.The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a significant difference in the use of the lecturing model using Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) related to the writing skill of 8th graders student and to find out how students' perceptions related to the learning model using Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) are used in teaching writing, especially in recount text material.This study was experimantal research. The sample of this research was 60 students from two classes of 8th from SMP N 1 Mungkid. The sample was collected by purposive sampling. The writer used writing test and questionnaire as the research instruments. It was conducted pre-test and post-test for writing tests and pre-test and post-test for questionnaires. The data was analyzed using quantitavive method and qualitative method. The writing test was analyzed using SPSS conducted normality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, homogeneity test using Levene statistic, and Hypothesis testing using independent sample T-Test and the questionnaire used data analysis by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana.
