SKRIPSI UJI TAPIS VARIETAS-VARIETAS HIBRIDA CIBA-GEIGY, HIBRIDA KOMERSIAL DAN NON-HIBRIDA TERHADAP HASIL DAN SIFAT AGRONOMI TANAMAN JAGUNG (Zea mays L)
ABSTRACT
Indonesia is the biggest corn producer in South East Asia. In Indonesia, however, corn production is still little, because using little productive variety.
This experiment intends to evaluate the yield and agronomic characteristic of Ciba-Geigy hybrid. It was held on January until April 1988 on Latosol soil in Ciba-Geigy R & D Station, Cikampek, West-Java.
The method used in the experiment was Lattice Designs with 25 treatments which consist of 18 Ciba-Geigy hybrid, 5 Commercial hybrid and 2 Non-hybrid varieties. It was held three replications.
Observation was organized on the weight of dried paled corn, the weight of dried stalk, the weight of 1000 kernels, the maximum length of stalk, the maximum diameter of stalk, the maximum height of plant, the maximum diameter stem, the leaf area index, the weight of fresh straw and the weight of oven dried straw.
The results of this experiment shows obvious differences among each tested variety on almost every aspect observed. Exception occurs only in the case of the weight of fresh straw.
The result of the experiment are as follows: Variety that produced the most dried paled corn was HB 86076 (3,761 ton/hectare). CPI-1 has the tallest plant (177,952 cm). HB 86078 has the biggest diameter of stem (1,963 cm). HB 86068 has the highest leaf area index (3,723). And HB 86076 has the most weight of oven dried straw (76,776 gram/plant).
Basing on the experiment, we find that there are five varieties of Ciba-Geigy hybrid (HB 86076, HB 86078, HB 86079, HB 86080 and HB 86070) which higher production of dried paled corn than commercial hybrid or non-hybrid tested.
